Abbott Champions for Kids Campaign #AbbottCFK and #CBias

I am excited to share with you about Abbott Champions for Kids mission to help children in communities across the country. As a participant in this Abbott Nutrition Snack Packs simple service mission, I will be creating Abbott Nutrition Pack a Snack at Walmart and then donating them to children who could use some extra nourishment. You can read more about this simple service project at CFK Simple Services Projects pages or by reviewing this Abbott project card. This is one of many Champions for Kids programs that are held throughout the year.

"Did You Know? • More than 16 million children under the age of eighteen in the United States are food insecure—unable to consistently access adequate amounts of nutritious food necessary for a healthy life. Even more heartbreaking is the fact that more than three million children under the age of five are food insecure. • The developing immune systems of young children ages 0 – 5 make them especially vulnerable to nutritional deprivation and as a result, the ability to learn, grow, and fight infections is adversely affected. • While having enough food is important, the nutritional quality of that food is equally important. Approximately 17% (or 12.5 million) of children and adolescents ages 2 – 19 are obese, and 1 of 7 low-income, preschool-aged children is obese. (Sources: Feeding America; Center For Disease Control)"

As I have mentioned previously, my daughter attends a daycare/preschool where a number of the families qualify for the school child care assistance. As such, I know that they are meeting certain income requirements and likely eating well at home is a struggle for these family. I have decided to help those family by creating the Abbott Nutrition Snack Packs and have the center distribute them to those families. I will be including products from Abbott Nutrition, like Pediasure®, Pediasure SideKicks®, and ZonePerfect® bars.

Would you join in and create a Snack Pack for a child/family in need in your area using the great Abbott products? Details can be found here: http://championsforkids.org/simple/ . You can also find Champions for Kids on Facebook and share about your experience.
