Mamavation Monday

I have a cold. A bad, stuffy head starting to get a sore throat cold! I hate colds! Yesterday, I was still in the I can beat this cold mode - so I felt my best choice was to sleep and allow my body extra rest to help fight the cold. But, it didn't work fully and over the course of the day yesterday, the stuffiness continued to increase, despite fighting it with Vitamin C and Zinc. So, this morning, the inability to breathe freely has caused me to miss another day of exercise. I am hopeful that by tomorrow, I will be able to go more than a few minutes without blowing my nose and will be able to exercise.

Needless to say, I have fallen behind in my 30 Day Shred Challenge. I am still planning on doing the workout for an actual 30 Days, vs just ending once 30 days have passed. It means that I will be still in the midst of the Challenge when everyone else starts to wrap up. I wound up doing Level 1 for 7 days and Level 2 for 7 days and late last week moved onto the Level 3 workout. By far, it is my favorite. I just didn't always feel it after the workout of the first two levels - sure I was sweaty and breathing hard, but the muscles just didn't feel like they do after a great workout. After Level 3, I knew I had worked out. I could really feel it in my muscles. I'm not sure, how I will finish the program. I was thinking 7 days on Level 3 and then doing a mix or maybe a combo of workouts from Level 1, 2 and 3. Or, perhaps I will just do 16 days on Level 3. How would you complete the 30 Day Shred?

This missing exercise (I was super busy this weekend with one wedding and three birthdays, so that was a miss as well) coupled with the eating at the one wedding and three birthdays and my adherence to 'starve a fever, feed a cold' yesterday (not really because I believe it, but because it is what happens) certainly is not serving me well in meeting my overall fitness and weight goals.

Alas, I will let this weekend go behind me and I will make a fresh start (as soon as I can breathe long enough to do the workout).

I will go and check out what other Mamavation Monday participants and 30 Day Shred Challenge participants have been up to for inspiration. It's amazing how reading about other success can help motivate you. I think I just might join Jared from the Subway ads in the Commit to Fit campaign. He is getting in shape to run a marathon in NYC. I'm not getting ready for a marathon, but would love to finish losing the weight that I set out to lose last year.

  1. I soooo feel you! I have been sick for 2 weeks and it is soo draining!!! Take care of yourself! Your body needs rest to get well. Take it easy when you feel well enough to get back into it.

  2. I hope you feel better soon. Colds are the pits. Give your body the rest it needs to fight this. The exercise will be there waiting when you're feeling better :)

  3. I'm so sorry to hear you are feeling so poorly! I hope you recover very quickly!

    I haven't done the entire 30 Day Shred challenge, so I don't really have any advice on how to finish it out. What you suggested sounded good, though! :-)

    Maybe that's why it never worked for me... I was always told "starve a cold, feed a fever"! :-)

  7. Ugh -- I DESPISE having a cold. They are so annoying --- you feel like crap, but w/o a fever, you don't have the excuse to just shut down and bury yourself in bed. {{hugs}}

    Don't worry about the exercise -- just get rest and drink plenty of water!

  9. I hate being sick too because all I want to do is eat... It's almost like I'm subconsciously thinking that somehow I'll find the right food to make all the ickyness go away... I never do of course. I hope you are feeling better and applaud you for taking the time to rest because clearly your body was telling you want it needed and you listened! That in and of itself is a great healthy living success!
