Yoplait Splitz Review and Giveaway

At my house, yogurt is a near daily staple of our diet. The kids enjoy eating it and I feel good about them snacking on yogurt. I use yogurt as the "sweet treat" in my lunch - I always feel like I need something sweet to finish off my meal and yogurt allows me to have something sweet to finish my meal that I don't feel guilty about it.

When we eat our yogurt from the refrigerator, but also like to occasionally having it frozen. Generally, we either have it in a tube that is easy to freeze and eat, or we use a popsicle insert to freeze it.

Recently, I was invited to try Yoplait Splitz - the new yogurt from Yoplait that "tastes like a sundae". I found this to be very intriguing, especially since I use yogurt in the role of dessert in my lunch.

I selected the Strawberry Banana Split flavor, but it also comes in Strawberry Sundae and Rainbow Sherbet. I was pleased to see that each serving was only 90 calories.

The first cup I ate from the refrigerator. The yogurt is layered in the cup with the Strawberry on the bottom and the Banana on the top. The banana portion of the yogurt was very creamy and almost custard like. The strawberry seemed more like a standard yogurt texture. Together, it was a nice flavor and texture. The second cup I ate by popping it into my freezer overnight. The challenge with this approach was that once frozen, it was hard to mix the layers like you would from the refrigerator. The yogurt presented a nice texture when frozen, but I was a little disappointed to not be able to enjoy both layers together. I suppose if I had let it thaw a little, it would have been easier to spoon through both layers. I think that I might try shaking the yogurt before freezing it to see if I could mix the layers next time.

Overall, I was very pleased with the flavor and the texture of the Yoplait Splitz. I like the combination of flavors. I felt good about eating the yogurt, knowing that it was only 90 calories and served my needs as the sweet treat to finish my lunch.
