I headed out to CVS on Saturday to pick up the last thing I needed to complete the Softsoap/Irish Spring deal this week. My mom called shortly before I left to tell me to pick up the Softsoap deal. For some reason, the Essentials pumps and refills were both tagged with a sale price and a tag about the ECB offer for the week. When I checked out, they were ringing up at BOGO.
When I completed my first transaction, the math wasn't right to me. I knew where I should have been and the total was less than I expected. I even asked the cashier if she had missed scanning one perhaps. I added some candy to my transaction (there was a line and I needed to get up to $10 to use the ECB that I had in hand). It wasn't until I walked away that I discovered that they were ringing up BOGO. The manager helped me - she left the pricing the same and just pushed through an ECB. In the end, I think this worked in my favor - as I paid $2 each for the first 4 and $3.99 for the last one - a $2 savings over what I expected. Of course, I thought to myself, too bad I hadn't grabbed 6 of them - it wouldn't have cost me anymore.
Transaction #1 (Mom's card)
5 - Softsoap Essentials refill
10 - Arizona Iced Tea (rain check from 2/$1 sale)
6 - rolls of Spree and SweetTarts
-$10 5x$2 Softsoap Refill Peelie
Paid with $10 ECB and $1.64 OOP ($1.11 was tax). Manager printed the $5 ECB.
Transaction #2 (my card)
1 - Softsoap Essential pump
Paid $5.33 OOP and earned $5 ECBs. The manager had to manually ring this one for me, it was ringing up at $7.99 with a BOGO offer.
