WHAT! Turns out, I had accidentally grabbed plain old Dayquil and Nyquil Cold and Flu caplets - only the Cold and Flu with Vitamin C were on the deal. Not only that, but the ones that I bought were $.99 each more expensive (plus tax). That explained why my OOP was higher than expected. I just wish that I had read the ad (or the package) closer. It doesn't help that my CVS is very inconsistent in tagging the ECB items. Can anyone explain why CVS can't do a credit and a purchase in the same transaction? Everyother store I shop at seems to be able to.
Transaction #3
- 1 Nyquil Caplets
- 1 Dayquil Caplets
Credit of $12.76 onto a giftcard.
Transaction #4
1 - Nyquil Caplets (with Vitamin C this time)
1 - Dayquil Caplets (with Vitamin C this time)
Total $10.65. Paid with giftcard. Balance remaining of $2.11 and earned $10 ECB.
I started the day with $17.99 in ECBs. I spent $5.97 OOP (minus my credit on card = $3.86) and finished with $20 in ECBs. Net cost for everything - $1.85. Not too shabby for six boxes of tissues, makeup, air fresheners and cold & flu medicine. According to my receipts, I saved $97.64 during this visit (really?). Wow!
