I just finished reading a great book,
Once In A Blue Moon by Eileen Goudge. The book tells the story of sisters Lindsay and Kerrie Ann. As we learn in the prologue, they were separated at a young age, when they were placed in foster care because their mother was arrested and sent to prison. Fast forward twenty some years and we learn that they are still leading their separate lives. Lindsay has tried to find her sister, but Kerrie Ann, so young when they were separated, didn't even know she had a sister until her lawyer unearths it. The author does an excellent job of building the characters in the first two chapters, helping the reader learn more about who they are and what the influences in their lives have been. Then, the story unfolds as it explores their relationship as they fall in and out of love and face major life issues.
I really enjoyed reading this book. I stayed up later than I should have on more than one occasion, because I wanted to read just one more chapter. Ms Goudge tells such a wonderful story with characters that you feel drawn to, you can't help but want to find out what happens next. I love a good page turner.
This was the first book that I read by Eileen Goudge, but now I can't wait to check out more of her books. I learned over on her website that she has 16 other books...so I have a lot of catching up to do.
