Tried It Tuesday - Ferrero Rondnoir

Recently, I was offered the opportunity to try Ferrero chocolates. I am a huge fan of dark chocolate, so my choice was easy, I chose to try the Rondnoir chocolates.

I must say, they were delectable. When you first open the bronze foil wrapper, you are greeted by this cute little ball of chocolate coated in crunchy dark chocolate morsels. When you take your first bite, you discover that beneath this outer coating are a number of tasty layers. Moving in from the outside, you have the dark chocolate morsels, a crunchy wafer shell, a creamy dark chocolate layer and inside it all, a center of pure dark chocolate.

The best part is that while one piece feels totally indulgent, the calories are not crazy. In fact, the suggested serving is 4 pieces which have a total of 220 calories. I have managed to exercise control and have enjoyed the chocolates one at a time, for a mere 55 calories each. This is great, since I am trying to watch my total calorie consumption, but enjoy a treat now and then. Sometimes, I find myself mentally setting aside a few calories so that I can enjoy a Rondnoir chocolate at the end of my day.

The chocolates are reasonably priced, too. The 12 count pack of Rondnoir chocolates is sold for $3.29, making it an affordable treat (27 cents/piece) as well.

Heading over to the Ferrero USA site, I learned that the Ferrero Company is a family-owned business, that was started in 1946 in Italy. Ferrero USA was first opened for business in NYC, in 1969. The first product that they offered in the US was the Tic Tac. According to their website, they use only the highest quality ingredients and aspire to be unique. I've never had a dark chocolate quite like the Rondnoir - so I would say they have succeeded in this.
