As part of a current Bzz Campaign for BzzAgent, I was given the opportunity to try out the Pledge Fabric Sweeper for Pet Hair. As I have mentioned before, I have a cat and I use lint rollers to try to keep on top of some of the excess cat hair that accumulates on the furniture, curtains and more. So, when I was contacted by BzzAgent to try out the new Pledge Fabric Sweeper, I was excited to give it a try.
When the Fabric Sweeper arrived, we wondered about it. It seems like a 'simple' tool, how could it work. We've used lint rollers and tried using upholstery attachments for the vacuum, both of which seem to work so-so.
My husband first tried to use it on the curtains, but I don't think there was enough tension - I think that if someone held the curtains tight, it might have worked - and so he didn't seem to get much hair. Then, he moved on to the side of the recliner. Our recliner sits next to an end table - there is maybe 6" between them. To our cat, this is the most obvious and convenient route to leave the family room, so he frequently squeezes his 20# body through this opening. Using short side to side strokes to clean the side of the chair, my husband was amazed at how well it worked and declared "you can't tell there was ever any fur there" when he was done.
It really is a clever little contraption. It has a plastic ergonomically shaped body that functions as the handle and the reservoir for accumulating the fur that you sweep up with it. The collection portion is two 1/2 roller looking pieces that are covered in velour fabric. They capture the fur and as you work it back and forth, it moves the pet hair into the collection chamber and traps it.
According to the product website, the fabric sweeper can clean up as much pet hair as 145 sticky roller sheets - making the $4.99 Suggested Retail Price about average. The sweeper is disposable and should last about 3-5 weeks with daily use. Simply continue to use it until the collection area is full and then toss the whole thing.
I am pleased with this find. The website doesn't mention curtains, but I think that I will try to hold the fabric taut and have my husband try it again - that is one of our biggest pet hair nuisance areas.
